Release Information
===================
This release was a community effort with help of many people from many different countries. This collection uses quite a few different sources for files ranging from January to March 2003.  Counter-Strike 1.6 beta was sourced from a pair of gcache.gcf files, One from January the other from February. Half-Life was sourced from the retail disc of Day of Defeat which contained a version from March.  All versions of the games run on the same engine from Jan 14, 2003. The steam install was the sourced from the Steam 2.0 "SteamInstall.exe" and using a custom Launcher created by Steam006.

What is the difference between CS 1.6 retail and beta?
Don't like HL2 beta actually. But the visualization is pretty cool tho.

Here is a changelog from Version 1.5 https://liquipedia.net/counterstrike/Cs16_patches/2003-01-16_Patch
It has the first available version of de_airstrip which is missing planes. Here is an old video walkthrough: http://www.filespace.ru/games/cs16/cs16_airstrip.avi.html There are map differences.  The bomb timer does not cancel out the round timer.  The main menu is completely different.  I have not explored all the changes but websites around the time of release can get you more info. I'll try and find more.

The UI is looking cool, but useless. It lacks in-game special options such as "Disconnect" and "Player List". It was short lived anyway as it was already changed to final in March 2003 (DOD Retail).
