It can only be done via LAN, the first thing is to look at the local IP, I do it by opening the cmd and with the ipconfig command, there is a section that says ipv4, there is the local IP, then I start hl1 alpha and create a server in the multiplayer section, then on the other computer I start the game and on the console I put "connect (ip local of the server)" and that's it, there are 2 PCs playing locally and finally if you want to change your name, put multi player and setup and there you change the name
