whenever i walk the footsteps sfx sound out of place but when i run the footsteps come back to normal (sorta)

Just reinstall HL2 Beta. It may fix the problem.

If you have problems with reinstalling here's the tutorial:

1. Find folder with all HL2 Beta files and folders

2. Delete them

3. Install anon-hl2 or HL2 Beta Mega Build (depends on what you installed)
