e3_lab_sentences

"e3_lab_sentences" is a small map from HL2 Beta, last edited April 4, 2003.

This is a very simplified version of Kleiner's Lab from 2003.

Only the first part of the Lab is present. Alyx and Kleiner are both in the room.

This map must have been a scripted sequence test for the E3 2003.

Indeed, although Kleiner is silent here, Alyx endlessly repeats these same sentences:

"Look, do you want my help or not?" (misc2.wav)
"If you want my help, you better get moving." (misc3.wav)
"Try to keep up, ok?" (misc4.wav)

This map shows a fantasized vision of the dystopian universe of Half-Life 2 Beta.
The rain and dark orange colors impart an aura of mystery.
The streets and roads are particularly damaged.
An indescribable chaos reigned here. What could have happened?
But surprisingly, the atmosphere is both warm and gloomy...

"test_21" is the "Missing Information" version of "crap.bsp" from HL2 Beta.
This map was developed between April 20 and 22, 2003.
This map consists of a large square area, filled with water.
A kind of "Stairway to Heaven" emerges from it.
Alyx is here peaceful, contemplating the void...

"e3_seafloor" is a Half-Life 2 Beta map shown at E3 2003.
This map was replaced by d2_coast_04 in Half-Life 2.
On this map, Gordon is pursued by a Gunship that he must try to flee. Many Combine Soldiers patrol the docks.
They must be killed using the Tau Cannon attached to the Buggy.
Gordon eventually finds a rocket launcher near an armored vehicle.
It allows to shoot down the Gunship which crashes on the road.
Fade to black.

"ravine04a" is a map from HL2 Beta, last edited December 12, 2002.
It is a large Wasteland, rocky and desert. It is probably an old dry canyon. The area is huge and seems inhospitable. And yet ... a few creatures inhabit this arid place.
Indeed, three Headcrabs and a Bullsquid have taken up residence here. Besides, I like to call the latter "the All-Knowing Bullsquid".
His gaze and his nonchalant attitude make us believe that he is in the middle of meditation.
Otherwise, it should be noted that there is also a kind of cave in the map. The layout of the galleries seems to indicate that it is not a natural cave.
It is impossible to know if this map must have been further worked on, or if it was a simple map connected to something more important...

"d1_c17_05" is a map from Half-Life 2 Beta, slightly reworked for Missing Information.
This is the map where we meet Barney for the first time, under the gaze of the Cremators.
It is in the pouring rain, not far from the Citadel, that Gordon must follow Barney.
Barney leads Gordon to a small, ruined building, which is connected to the sewers.
This will be the shortest and safest route to Kleiner's Lab...

"c17_04_41" is a map from HL2 Beta, from the 2001-2002 era, reworked for the "City 17 Mod".
This is the main plaza of the old City 17. This variant of "c17_04" takes place at the end of the day.
A magnificent sunset overlooks City 17, making it warm and oppressive at the same time.
The City Scanners monitor the comings and goings of Citizens.
The Consulcasts keep repeating their propaganda.
However, the area appears relatively calm and peaceful.
An access even leads to the Manhack Arcade...

"c17_04_41" is a map from HL2 Beta, from the 2001-2002 era, reworked for the "City 17 Mod"

The map you're playing isn't from City 17 mod. There it had a different skybox (actually the one used on the original map) and animated monitors with Breen, and a different Citadel.

Like how did you even download and use that map and not realised what it is? How could you have played City 17 mod (which in my opinion is *necessary* before you do any of these videos and describe the maps from it) and not remembered that the map looked differently?

Unless you didn't? You've made like dozens of these videos, why can't you sort it out, your sources and your verifications?

d1_quarry_01

"d1_quarry_01" is a map from Half-Life 2 Beta, calm, without a fight, and conducive to exploration.
This map was part of "Quarrytown", one of the older versions of Ravenholm.
It is a large canal, which serves as a quarry, as evidenced by the various construction machinery.
A few cranes fell into the canal. This stream is populated by oddly peaceful Ichthyosaurs.
Several buildings and metal structures adorn the area.
All under Alyx's eyes, overlooking the stage.

c17_04_13

"c17_04_13" is an old City 17 map form Half-Life 2 Beta.
It is a classic residential area, under the occupation of Combine forces.
Some Gasmask Citizens roam the streets,
under the gaze of City Scanners.
The Metropolice patrol to maintain order and discipline.
The Consulcasts keep repeating their propaganda.
Surveillance and oppression are the main principles.
However, the area appears relatively calm and peaceful.
No doubt is allowed: it is safer here.
