Half-Life 2 Beta General Technical Problems

When I load up a game and load a map. I sometimes want to stream it on discord. So I press the start key or Alt Tab back to the desktop. But Most of the time when I try to click back on the game, I'm greeted with a grey screen saying loading.

Help please.

If you want to stream/record the beta, I would do it in windowed mode so that you don't have to tab in and out, which breaks it while in full screen (ie, the grey loading screen that never dissapears.)

What's the administrator code to allow access to install megapatch 4? When i install it it says access is denied.

This sounds more like an issue with your OS than mp4 itself.

If your user account on your PC is not an Admin, I would look up how to make yourself an admin, so you don't have this issue (or try running the program as an administrator.)

So every time I try and run hl2.exe in the anon-hl2 folder, the beta opens, shows the grey loading screen, then quits.

Are you using the originall unpatched HL2 Beta? If so, try this.

1. Right click on hl.exe and select "Properties"
2. Go to the "Compatibility" tab
3. Select the box marked as "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
4. Select the OS you're using from the list and click Apply.

If that doesn't help, then you can install the Mega Build, as the originall anon build is very unstable and buggy. Mega Build comes with a lot of extra content and mods and it's also patched with engine and map fixes with overall better stability. Hope I helped.

just double click it, if it doesnt open try put it in compatibility mode with windows xp sp2 or 3

Your antivirus could remove the executable for some reason.

take a look at your antivirus (if you're using Windows 10 take a look at the windows defender although I never personally had this problem)

it's probably your antivirus thinking hl2.exe it's a virus, make an exception to it, and done.

I have windows 10 and it lets me select options all the way back to win 95
sorry that was the last time I checked, just checked now (must have been an update) either way the beta runs fine for me without the forced compatibility

The HUD doesn't show any numbers (suit, health, ammo, etc) Is there a way to fix this? I keep having to use the old HUD.
