...Yes, I know, one of these is a map and the other one is a texture, but I had to choose between the two sections where to put these, and I think the map takes hold over the texture. Anyway, using the leftover pieces of the 2001 era vmf "subt_1," I've attempted to recreate what the level may have been like as faithfully as possible by using the leftover pieces. Have it be known that this is not the most accurate recreation, I'm sure. The 2002 equivalent to subt most likely has leftover pieces that I didn't use. Furthermore, the maze in the later portion of the map is labeled in visgroups as "flashlight maze," meaning, obviously, that the player would have had a suitless flashlight at this point. I wasn't able to add in something like this, so try not to fall into the pitch black pits. Lastly, the "vienna sausages" scene is not original, I just thought it fits. In the original story, subt_1 would have taken place after c17_07 and before lab_01. The very end of my recreation is a copy of the start of lab_01. I didn't bother creating a level transition at the end, but I've included the vmf of my map, so if you'd like to use it for anything, feel free. Just be sure to include my name in the credits of any mods or mappacks you may include it in. Download:

The original texture was using a deprecated transparency system from goldsrc where transparent areas would be 255 blue. I went ahead and replaced these areas with an alpha mask and gave the texture file "$alphatest." Here is the link to that:
