Half life modding questions

How do i port half life 0.52 alpha models into the retail? do i decompile the model and recompile it? how do i do that then, try to keep your answer simple please

I Tried using studiomdl to recompile it and it just says ''Can read qc FAIL!'' or something like that, i used GeckoN's model viewer
