 brief history
i'm an ex-dev from valve (2003-2016) i currently live in Brazil with a friend of mine BLA BLA that's not important. but i think my subject it's actually useful in some matters.

BETA CS:S

in around april 2004 our team was developing a bunch of ideas that we had on cs:s one of them was vehicles and drivable, in one week we decided that was too much time to be spent and a great loss of time on a simple,yet impossible idea (although we have maps for cs:s which has drivable vehicles, i mean that we had to create gamemods,maps, and assets that would compromisse anything).

Wait, you're an ex-valve dev? Nice. Never thought I would see one here. Anyway, I have a question to ask. Do you have anything on your pc relating to old half-life 2 files/builds? [There's this one model people keep meme-ing. Gasmask Citizen. i highly doubt you would have any files asides from textures since the model was deleted a while back.]

1 - Said model was shown at a closed-door siggraph thing.
2 - It was used in an old screenshot featuring gasmask citizens running from a strider.
3 - The face texture was based on Juan Martinez
4 - The model was entirely deleted. Only textures remain.]

Sorry to say,but i didn't work on valve in 2002,i started work on valve in 2003 and ended in 2016 i worked in cs:s and hl2:ep2 and a little to nothing on cs:go. But there are some people that i could contact,although it passed many years.

Well, if you are able to contact people, I recommend reaching out to the big guys, or guys that had been working on hl since about 1999 or so.

hey, i contacted  the guy and here it was he told me about the gasmask and siggraph.

'' the gasmask citzen? that model was awesome to do,i think hl2 2001 storyline it's better than 2003 not saying it's bad, but that i like more, that's a fact. and no, i don't have any model or texture beacuse i formatted my pc a long time ago and lost most of the hl2 and css beta files i had,but i know someone that has  those so called,beta models and builds but he won't show up in the near future. '' the siggraph was just to show some graphical and engine resource from source not about hl2 2002 (well they had to show 3d rendering so they used some model from betas but they didn't show gameplay from the game at that time, i wasn't there, so i can't confirm on what it truly had on the siggraph, and about the behind doors i belive it was meant to not show the engine to the public so that other enterprises couldn't  copy our engine. i don't know about this either so take this information with a bit of saltiness. anyway goodbye old friend i really hope this information helps you.''

i tried contact some other people but most of them answered with a no or just silly answers...that's the only thing i can help with...

Also, I found this. Maybe you can tell him about it? If this works, we might be able to finally get that model. Also, I have an alternate idea. Could you ask him to potentially re-make the model using the leaked textures, in all of it's somewhat-low-poly glory?

Yeah, about this "hl2 repository" it's actually true, but also  impossible to enter on it without being an authorised employee or a trusty worthy guy from valve that they know,that won't leak something.  And the guy that created the model doesn't have this permission anymore.
