So with the beta has gained in popularity and has become one of the most talked about subjects within the Half Life 2 community. The story itself is what fascinates me and many others. The Half-Life 2 project beta team among many others has produced a lot of good work and incite on how things changed from era to era. A certain type of video came to my attention from the youtube users "Toast the Fox" and "HL2 Beta Project". These videos would show a map or concept of a map and how it evolved through out its development, until it was scrapped or finished. I have added youtube links to this topic. This sort of video can be very helpful to developers who want to make their own version of the half life beta, Like Dark Interval. And show off concepts that would have stayed within the map like the Docks or Construction in the original City 17 concepts. The bus ride leading to outer City maps followed by the jet-ski section that would develop and change entirely too.
In a video all these can be seen on a chapter to chapter, Map to map compilation. Ideas of these videos would be "Evolution of Vertigo" a map that has an entire mod based around just that chapter and leading to the "Sniper" story segment in the "Street war" chapter. From Skyscraper, to Palace, and finally Vertigo. "Evolution of Manhack Arcade" Would also be a very good one. Or "Evolution of Ravenholm" Zombie town, Trap Town, Quarry Town etc. Anyway this topic Id like to discuss with others as I want to get involved more in the beta community and branch out for content.
