They're not really "gordon's playermodel", as the playermodel was simply player.mdl since the days of HL1, and the grey one is effectively the HL1 model with a tiny grey texture. The soldier isn't meant to be Gordon, it's the default MP model (which may or may not be owing to Leaknet instead of vanilla leak).

The ones on the screenshots are fanmade edits, so it's not really here or there in terms of historical evidence.

Ohhhh I get it. I thought the combine solider was a placeholder from the real beta. But I guess now I know that it was the hl1 playermodel all along. I got it.
