CS:GO PAX 2011 doesnt work

I have downloaded CS:GO PAX 2011. I launch game and it just stuck on loading screen. Then this error message comes up:  Error reading application id. Please either write it to steam_appid.txt or use the launcher! Do i need have steam to launch game?

I was actually able to fix the problem. Just used steam emulator (SmartSteamEmu)
