I was wondering, how do I port the Half-Life 2 Beta or Half-life 2 Maps to Goldsrc? I have been trying to make a modification in the Beta style, but I cannot port the maps or the map contents. Does anybody know how I can do this properly?

i dont think you can, best you can probably do is just open their vmf files in goldsrc's J.A.C.K hammer, as jack "supports" vmf files but it'll probably just spew out 100000 errors, maybe for half life 2 beta maps it would open? sorta? https://jack.hlfx.ru/en/download.html

I was trying to port over the beta textures into the Halflife.wad but I gave up. They also did not work- really due to bugs and lack of skills.

Well... You can try just recreating the hl2 beta maps in goldsrc's hammer, never give up! :D

You can open Source VMFs using JACK Hammer Editor, but all the triggers won't work due to new IO system that Source maps are using, there will be no displacements, all textures will be missing since you'll have to port them over to GoldSRC, there will be no models sounds etc etc since its all will have to be ported.
If panthers are part of the cat family, are panthereyes part of it aswell?

WAD is a file containing stored textures, each texture has it's own 8 bit palette (256 unique colours).

I personally recommend using PaintNET, paired with VTF plugin for it and Wally.

1) Open HL2 VTFs you want to port in PaintNET
2) Scale them down. My personal recommendation is to scale 512x down to 256x, 256x to 128x, 128x to 64x etc. GoldSRC will have a bad time if you wont scale them down.
Keep in mind, you'll have to scale all brush textures to 0.5x in Hammer, which will raise the resolution of lightmaps which will then raise up the compile time.
3) Save them as 8-bit .BMP files.
4) Open Wally, create a new .WAD, drag&drop all of your created images into newly created WAD window.
5) Save the WAD with any name, put it inside "\Half-Life\((YOUR MOD FOLDER))", then open Hammer and in game configuration add your own WAD.

So I add a Custom WAD instead of adding them into the HL Wad?

They are good, but the names of the textures are different.
