Half-Life 2 Beta: Mega Build is a special build of the so called "beta" version of Half-Life 2. A compilation of all fixes, patches and mods made for it since 2003.
No more searching, no more conflicting content, and no longer will you have to have several installations of the beta with different patches.

This build was made as an ISO image.
If you have Windows 8 or later you can just right click the .iso file and press "Mount":

If you have Windows 7 or earlier - download WinCDEmu, Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel or DAEMON Tools Lite (preferably v.4.49.1) to mount it.
Once mounted run autorun.exe and this window will appear:

Press "Install HL2 Beta: Mega Build", select setup language and finally an installer will open.
After you choose the path where to install Mega Build, you will see this:

In here you can select whatever models and mods you wish to install. Let's have a look what's what:

Now that you know what's what, select whatever you wish to install and press next. The installation might take a while (the full installation takes up to 14 gigabytes of disc space).
After the installation is done, go to the folder you installed Mega Build into, find ModLauncher.exe

Launch it and choose a mod or a mappack to play

Press start and the game will launch. In the game use console and 'map' command to launch different maps. Some mods and mappacks have "New Game" button working. And that's all, enjoy the gameplay of the True Beta (c).

Don't forget to check the LeakNet download page from time to time for newest builds of the patch that comes out pretty frequently. Also you can check Downloads section on our site as we constantly uploading new fixes, mods and other stuff in there.

In this thread you can discuss this build as well as post your ideas what should be added in it and reports of bugs and what's not working well.

How often will this try to be updated, if at all? Whilst I won't download 14 gig every time an update comes out, it'd be nice if this was relatively upkept for beta newbs or newcomers to the site.

Well, first of all it's 14 gb in an unpacked state, the archive is "just" 3.8 gb. As for updates we will pack newer version from time to time, when enough new content was made for it. Also you won't need to download whole archive every time, each thing gets released in our downloads separately.

Here's something that I noticed. The torso of the classic zombie turns to the "fat" version like in the untouched anon release.
Everything in hl2 folder was left as much original as possible. Still you're able to download custom 2003 torso model from downloads.

This fix was added into the archive on the site. You don't need to download it anymore.

A fix for HL2 Beta: Mega Build. You will need to delete ModLauncher.dat file before launching it.

What was fixed and added:
- Updated airex_04 map of Air Exchange mod with cpt. Vance scene. Voiced by Sgt. Stacker
- E3 2002 now has a proper name in Mod Launcher
- Custom green scanner skin remake made by Kralich was added in 2001 mappack
- Added missing models for c17_01_74 map in 2001-2002 mappack
- Added E3 2002 maps from wc-mappack in E3 2002 mappack's folder
- Fixed map name for "Training Room" option of the main game for default "LeakNet HL2" game in Mod Launcher

The patches wont be the full 3 gig archive every time, it will only be the files it changes so you can put it on-top of the existing installation.

I have a minor problem.
I've recently created a custom map for myself where I used 3 Conscripts as allies for the player.
I gave each of one them different weapons. When I tested my map in-game their animations worked fine and they shot their weapons with the correct animations playing.
After I downloaded the 'Mega-Build' and loaded up my custom map once more in the game their guns were in their torso and they just displayed their idle animations when firing their guns.
I would like to know how to fix the broken animations of the Conscripts.

I have a minor problem.
Download this custom model fix and apply it either on mod's folder where your custom map is or on 'hl2' folder.

You guys are truly amazing. Just the fact that you have been working on this since many years. Or the fact that you made a non playable biuld into a playable game without even getting money back, and being part of a community that is not even that big... о_О i can't express anything but my thanks! For everybody who worked at this, thank you! I wish you guys the best!  :)
I just like exploring the beta stuff, always found them interesting. I also wanted to learn to use hammer with the hl2 beta.

I found this cityfuckbeta3 map in anon-hl2/fixes/src of the mega build and whin i looked for the bsp, it didn`t appera. It looks like it was last edited in 2017 August. I have questions:

-What is this map supposed to be?
-Is this supposed to be here?

Also, is the func_wall supposed to act like func_ladder?
