Arkane Studios are trying to officially release HL2:ep4

If they manage to do it, then it will be the biggest return of unused content in the history for Valve games. Damn it, for more than 10 years we did not know what this episode was all about, and then we get information about it in this year in the smallest details, and now, it is even possible that they will give it to us

how will they manage to do it then? hl2:ep4 it's property from Valve, Arkane doesn't have the rights right?

I don't see this happening without some clear evasion of some copyright laws (I'm no lawyer, but I don't see a way legally happening).

another thing, a petition doesn't change valve opinion on something a bit, I remember around 2012 some fans wanted Valve to release TF2BOA src, I don't remember if it reached its goal or not. but obviously Valve didn't do it.

This is true but with the release of HL:A there could be an off chance that Valve may be interested in going back to the half life series or some people interested in the project but as you said a petition really won't change their minds on cut content related stuff.

I believe it can be released, or "leaked" as a mod, if arkane doesnt try to profit from it and states that it isnt cannon, i dont think valve can do anything about it, it would be like a fan made spin off.

They could just make it a source mod if they really where actually thinking about leaking it, but coming from VNN? The recent leaks coming from him have told me a lot of what he says is BS.

Honestly, I don't want to see other studios mess, It's not like Valve is holy company the thing is that any project that was not made by Valve has no meaning in universe.For example Opposing Force and Blue Shift were just a gimmick. Valve is so mysterious when it comes to Half-Life. In interviews they can state: we are looking forward to work with gearbox arkane  whatever, to just drop the project or not to give any ..... (you know what) about that project, but they not eager to expand thier own universe. Even if is it true about Arkane, I don't think that has any meaning for Half-Life.

In my opinion I think its possible to deliver the Beta. Valve no longer cares for most of their games anyways. So it wouldn't be a surprise though if they did. Even through legal trouble Valve would probably agree with it, anyways Arkane would give it to us but however remove the ending of the game since Valve could " Somehow " Use the ending for other Half-Life games. I'm honestly hoping they do. Because we haven't had anything be leaked since like 2017 (We did find one thing this year through a Demo disc of Half-Life 2 but it was just low rendered Half-Life 2 models and for some odd reason the case of Half-Life 2 for the Original Xbox. All on the discord). It would be nice to see some new things as well. Modders could really use the items in the future too.
