Hello. I found three videos on the youtube channel intecrisis called "HL2 Beta Kleiner's Lab" , labelled part i, ii and iii. The videos depict maps running in a seemingly modified retail engine, done in the usual beta-inspired style that combines assets from different development eras, including retail. Here is the first part

The maps were done by Soul of Dark Light. Where can they be found today? I do think that they look quite interesting, for what they are, and I'd like to give them a try.

I think mod name is Dark Atmosphere, but it's cancelled. Maybe his friend recorded this

These were never available for download, and I recall Vitoy saying SoDL lost all his files long ago. You can see mod's surviving media in this site's gallery.

Like Shift said, the mod is dead and I saved all media I could find in our gallery.
The video you've posted was uploaded on Rutube (Russian YouTube analog) originally. So I suppose the guy you mentioned downloaded it from there and re-uped on YouTube.
