Great news Half Life 2 beta fans!

There is a channel named @2233thpro that has posted 3 videos of playing the original 2002 build of the Half Life 2 beta. Because of this there are some key elements of these three videos that show the real way of what it was like. First, the MP5K animation is different from the one we know and love today. Second, what I think is the missile launcher can be seen being used. Third, the crowbar animation is similar to the one used in the "Hyper Mod". And finally, the main menu screen is way different than the one we see in the Mega Build 2002 mappack today. Now this, is one way to start 2026!

It's just a WON console. Quake 1 & 2 sources are open and they use the same console menu. There are WON GoldSRC decompiles, you can easily port it back to Source engine.

Because the WON menu is a MFC nightmare. Would take a lot of effort for one to rebuild it and it isn't that major of a component to really focus time on. Plus, by 2002 they wouldn't have been using that menu anymore anyway. There is remnants belonging to a newer menu in both CSPort and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines that pre-dates the VGUI2 GameUI menu seen in the leak.
