Russian Beta

I've been searching in the web about the leaks of HL2, and I found a site that mention a 2-discs set of a HL2 Russian installer

I tried to download from the ed2k link, but there's no seeders for the files, and I searched on Google and torrent sites and I olny got 8 results of the search in the first one
So, if anyone know something, I would be very pleased

hmm... idk,it might be fake since before half life 2 was leaked there have been reports of fake copies of the beta given out in countries where piracy is rampant like china and russia and those fakes are said to contain viruses or pornographic imagery... Don't Trust the So Called "Russian Beta" that you have man... Scan the file with your antivirus before using it because, this site is the only site where the real leak was originally distributed on I believe...

The so called "Russian beta" is the same anon-hl2 leak that was recorded by Russian bootleggers on CD discs back in 2003-2004 with some additional content, like map launchers, small fixes and stuff like that. There's nothing special about it and sometimes those releases are even worst then the original beta, because some of those bootleggers messed few features.

I have no idea where vccarchive got the idea from that it's fake and full of viruses and pornographic imagery but i own the discs since 2003 and have been playing from it all the time back then. i found no viruses and no pornographic stuff on it at all. My brother got the CD's from his friend who was in Russia and bought the CD's there. These discs were all i had back then when it all was still fresh and it was convenient for me to just install it and start the maps from the small launcher window.

If you, Jose64141, or anyone else for that matter wants those discs uploaded someplace, i'd do it. You can even name a hosting service where you want it uploaded to. I used to share it a ton many years ago.

But it's useless. It's literally anon-hl2 with 2-3 irrelevant temp files and a single addition - very primitive map launcher. The rest of files are exactly the same as what you can download on this site.
That's how mine 2cd is, at least.

Useless or not useless depends on preferences, I personally prefer the CD Version because it's convenient for me to just Install 'n' Play quickly via the map Launcher. I did use the original Version from the Archives, but that was only once or maybe twice.

Btw, that's actually not a joke. When I found an archive with the beta for the first time back in 2005, I downloaded 4 gb archive (with my internet speed back in those days it was pain in the ass to download them, also it was 25 parts archive) and it appeared it was porn, not anon-hl2. Dunno why someone did that, there was no beta, no viruses or anything, just porn.

Yeah, it was way too common in those days to scam people into downloading something completely else. The unsuspecting User got a nice or nasty surprise back then. Had also similar stuff happen to me in those years.

I personally prefer the CD Version because it's convenient for me to just Install 'n' Play quickly via the map Launcher. I did use the original Version from the Archives, but that was only once or maybe twice.

That launcher is a single 284 kb file, you can put it to root folder of any leak version (clean, patched, Leaknet) and have the same thing.
