Hey ppl, i currently editing a map from l4d2 "
The Milltown
" (first map from the campaign
Hard Rain
" cause i started convert the l4d2 maps to garrysmod some years ago and while I doing this i always find much unused stuff like props that are on positions that u can't see/reach, decals/overlays that are possible beta leftovers. Now I want to share that somewhere and hl2betaru seems like the right place for that.
Also if you know something about them let me/us know!

c4m1_milltown_a_*.vmf <- decompiled (yes i know the decompilers always mess up some detail but nothing about this stuff as the positions etc. are the same in the official .bsp file if you view them with notepad++.. they also exist ingame.
Let's start with the spawn area there are many names for entities that doesn't exist
Nearby spawn is an unused overlay that display a track for a train. I picked a brush face for it in the editor. (Possible a leftover from an early map version)
Next to the spawn is a completely unused house u can't reach as its doors are static with a barricade in front of it also the weapons etc inside has no names that they used on another game mode.

After that you pass the sector with the playground and on that playground inside the wood prop is a metal pole dunno why it is there as it isn't a part of the prop
After that you pass a house with another that left under construction. What to say they are a whole mess as the most decals/overlays has no brush surfaces, props that are under the map or inside the brushes the house is made of.
Next to that sector is a dynamic prop with a missing lighting origin + its a dynamic prop but it supports static so why would they use a dynamic one there with a missing name?
At the end of the road you pass a house with many weapons and items etc there are some logic_cases that have missing targets which are leading to missing props.
Also there are many missing nextkeys for ropes all over the map.
Some houses have fanblades that doesnt rotate as they had a missing parent target
On the picture where the fanblade is shown are also some missing decals and a little brush that has no texture.
Another thing is the skybox I reacted like wtf where I saw the size of it.
The last things ive found are near or inside the Safe room area. There are some unused entities like a pipebomb in a not access able room or a "Info_Changelevel" trigger that has a strange output (any info about that?).

pointless bush model inside another that you cant even see
behind the static Safe room door is a whole designed area that u can just reach if you go over the roof as there is no player clip to block the player however in that room are two upgrades u cant get.

Woah, nice finds. Even a game that was just one year in development has so much cut things!
One advice for post redacting - you can add height or width parameters at the img code, e.g.:
