Need help cant Uninstall anon hl2

I recently attempted to play the hl2 beta and extracted anon-hl2 to my desktop. I guess I installed it incorrectly because all i got was a grey screen that said loading... and just crashed. I tried to delete the folder but it gave me a message saying that i couldn't because the folder or file in it is open in another program. I cannot find where anything in regards to the files running elsewhere on my pc. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

Well, the reason it says "This file is in use" is because you didn't close the Beta properly.

I would recommend closing the Beta properly, and then using one of the freely available guides on this forum to install Mega Patch 4 and the LeakNet engine modification.

Reboot your PC and try again.

Also it's impossible to "install/uninstall" the beta, because there's no installer (unless it's one of those crap "Russian betas"), you're just unpacking it and that's all.

You mean the 2005 torrent I downloaded for the Beta wasn't good? It said it had fixes! Damn you!

I apologize, i meant to say i was trying to recycle the unpacked folder and i found that the truetype font files are the culprits. thanks for the quick response btw.

Yes, beta has an issue when the OS couldn't unload some font files.
But you can remove all the other files from all another folder.

Also, you can improve your chances to load this game properly by installing Megapatch 4 along with LeakNet, package of which you can find at Downloads section of this forum

I have the same issue with op when it comes to trying to load The game, yet I opened it via megapatch.

restart the computer, the hl2beta doesn't close normally.

The fonts get cached by windows after you run the beta, so restarting then deleting it entirely (sending it to the recycle bin) it should work as windows wont load the font unless you run the game again after the reboot
