Hello all. Recently i have noticed a strange bug in the half-life 2 leak that makes all of the textures with reflective properties very shiny. if anyone knows about this bug or knows how to fix it i will appreciate it.

It looks like the specular map texture got inverted..... idk how that'd even happen  !special

It started with a custom recreation texture that came from megapatch 4 that had the same problem. but it also happened again when i was on a map and i typed in buildcubemaps but then the problem began spreading to other maps

Spec maps are broken as a *REDACTED* if the cubemaps haven't been built. Try building each level's cubemaps with "buildcubemaps" in the console then reloading the level. If they're still broken, set mat_specular to 0. This will disable specular reflections altogether.

It's not the problem with cubemaps. When you change the parameters in the .vmt files of the textures you have to recompile the maps. The texture's appearence are "sewed" into .bsp, that's why.
