our VK group, we
asked our users if they had, or knew of anyone, who might still have any of those old fan-made maps for the leak from around 2003. Thanks to
A-Shift, who many of you know and
DemonStrate, the author of the video we used in the VK post, we managed to gather an almost full archive of maps. Now you can always find it
on our site, like any other beta-related content.
Currently, there's 75 maps in that archive, many of them use additional content which is also included in the archive. Some maps have few missing textures and models. We'll update the archive if we will find them.
If you have no idea what those maps are - they're fan-made maps unrelated to the game's storyline. They were made back in 2003-2004, before Half-Life 2 was officially released. Many of them were made specially for multiplayer. For example there's a map where you can take a remote-controlled robot and fight with your friend in an arena. Some maps looks like a sandbox with a few physical objects and canisters, so you can weld them together and send them flying through the air. Could we even call these maps Gmod predecessors?
