Weird that I didn't hear about most of those, they seem pretty interesting. OP, can you link to an article?

npc_rollerbuddy can be controlled by weapon_rollerwand and has two modes: "command" and "follow"
npc_rollerdozer clears the streets from debris by pushing them to special nodes (as far as I can tell by source code of this NPC)
npc_rollermine is just a regular roller mine, and npc_rollerbull is (speculation) an bullying version of roller mine? :D

They all needs a testing right now, but before I need to fix some of them

Rollerbull sounds like some buffed up, thicker version of the regular mine, or something.

Mentiones of specific nodes is always interesting. There were many unused or cut nodes. Stuff like 'Wasteland Scanner Spawn' point, or tactical nodes, or some other used by the assassins, nodes indicating lit or dark places, and a bunch leftover ones from HL1. In case of the rollerdozer, the node is named HINT_ROLLER_CLEANUP_POINT and the mine's sole purpose is, as VXP said, to find out debris props and push them to this location specified by level designers. So it's a Roomba, essentially.

Having different versions of the rollermine is same as having different species of birds or subtypes of headcrabs or even different soldiers, we technically have 4 to count. Because variety is always good, no?

There are several NPCs in the HL2 beta, the names of which begin with a "roller". Like, they have a frikin family here: npc_roller; npc_rollerbuddy; npc_rollerbull; npc_rollerdozer; npc_rollermine; npc_rollerturret. What are these NPCs and how do they differ?
Don't like HL2 beta actually. But the visualization is pretty cool tho.

I wish one day VXP would fix them all so we could see those NPCs in action. rollerdozer sounds interesting, as well as roller turret.
Sadly even roller buddy won't work and rollerwand commands won't make it follow you.

rollerbuddy - roller that you control with the rollerwand
rollerbull - roller that charges the player with a saw blade and barks at the player, essentially a manhack but stuck on the ground
rollerdozer - roller that patrols areas and sweeps garabge
rollerturret - roller that has a gun

@Frying1Pans Amazing.

Also wow, that's the same channel responsible for that one 1 hour Nokia Arabic Ringtone video. Small world.
